This hearing will deal with the Coastal Environment Part A and Natural Hazards (Excluding Coastal Natural Hazards) topic – Part B.
The Coastal Environment chapter:
- identifies the extent of the Coastal Environment and areas of High Natural Character and Outstanding Natural Character within the Coastal Environment,
- seeks to protect the values of this area for current and future generations.
The Natural Hazards chapter
- identifies the extent of natural hazards in relation to flooding, land instability, earthquake hazards, lake and coastal tsunami
- seeks to protect communities from the risks of these hazards
- coastal natural hazards are included in this chapter but will be dealt with at a future hearing
